Faucet-mounted water filters are a convenient way to reduce chlorine, lead, and other impurities from your tap water. Replacing the filter cartridge on time ensures continued performance and fresh-tasting water.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Turn Off the Water
Make sure the water is turned off at the faucet. If you’ve recently used hot water, let the filter housing cool down before handling it.
Step 2: Locate the Filter Housing
The filter cartridge is housed inside the filter system attached to the end of your faucet. Most faucet mount systems have a casing that twists or flips open.
Step 3: Remove the Old Filter Cartridge
Open the filter housing by twisting or flipping the cover, depending on the model. Pull out the used cartridge and discard it according to local disposal guidelines.
Step 4: Prepare the New Filter (If Required)
Some replacement filters need to be flushed or rinsed under cold water for a few seconds before installation. Check the packaging for specific instructions.
Step 5: Insert the New Filter Cartridge
Place the new filter into the housing, making sure it’s aligned properly. It should slide or click into place easily—don’t force it.
Step 6: Close the Housing
Reattach or close the filter housing until it’s secure. Be sure it’s fully sealed to avoid leaks.
Step 7: Run Cold Water to Flush the New Filter
Turn on the cold water and run it through the new filter for about 5 minutes (or as directed by the filter manufacturer). This flushes out any loose carbon particles and activates the filter.
